I've played a dozen or so ranged runs that got to Zot, and Archery almost always feels bad. Unless you get it super early (which is very rare), compared to the other new heavy body armor brands I almost always find myself with a much better randart medium ER body armor (of course there's randart archery armor but I've found maybe 2 in my last 100 runs that got 10:59:22 anywhere and neither were relevant), especially with the trove rework. compared to death command and resonance armor which provide benefits relevant even through extended, archery ego is a ER reduction for weapon only that doesn't help spellcasting or dodge, and only appears on at best plate armor; which is a poor base type unless you got really unlucky in vaults or depths (not to mention oka=>finesse, 10:59:28 chei, a good str randart can undo its upside and get you a better ego). I propose to bring it in line with the other armors it should get a % damage boost linearly (or maybe better) based off base ER. so plate archery armor would give a flat 18% damage boost to ranged/throwing damage 11:04:09 in addition to the ER reduction of course. hell it could be 2x even, or scale off AC or armor skill; forgecraft 27 gives +40% melee damage with resonance, so it's not like there isn't precedence with the other rare armor egos 11:04:35 * ssm_ would just nerf resonance, it's strong enough without the melee damage boost 11:16:55 <09hellmonk> adding a damage buff to archery does sound kind of interesting but I might wait a version bc ranged is getting some other work done on it 11:56:16 03dolorous02 07* 0.35-a0-1005-g78a19fd10a: Fix typo: warps -> wraps. 10(5 minutes ago, 1 file, 1+ 1-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/78a19fd10ac0 12:33:16 <05icoson> cao gcc plan: 1. see if I can get gcc 12.5 to build, it reportedly is a good target in terms of compilation speed. (currently have gcc 10 working) 2. install libs in chroot without breaking anything 3. figure out how to get dgl building to use custom gcc version 15:46:27 Unstable branch on underhound.eu updated to: 0.35-a0-1005-g78a19fd10a (34) 18:44:35 <09gammafunk> nice, thanks for working on this. Regarding dgl building, I have a local commit I've been using on CDI for years that's just: diff diff --git a/crawl-git.conf b/crawl-git.conf index 3d8e6ab..92a3f65 100644 --- a/crawl-git.conf +++ b/crawl-git.conf @@ -28,6 +28,9 @@ export CRAWL_GAMEDIR=$DGL_CHROOT$CHROOT_CRAWL_GAMEDIR export CHROOT_VERSIONS_DB="/crawl-versions.db3" export VERSIONS_DB="$DGL_CHROOT$CHROOT_VERSIONS_DB" +# Enable 18:44:36 ccache for any build commands. +export PATH="/usr/lib/ccache:$PATH" + check-versions-db-exists() { if [[ ! -f "$VERSIONS_DB" ]]; then echo -e "Crawl version db $VERSIONS_DB does not exist" Just export a PATH, and since that gets used by all the dgl build scripts, it allows use of ccache without specifying it in the parent scripts. I imagine something similar would work for the local gcc 22:30:46 Unstable branch on crawl.develz.org updated to: 0.35-a0-1005-g78a19fd10a (34) 22:41:47 Windows builds of master branch on crawl.develz.org updated to: 0.35-a0-1005-g78a19fd10a 23:12:39 Unstable branch on cbro.berotato.org updated to: 0.35-a0-1005-g78a19fd10a (34) 23:45:37 Monster database of master branch on crawl.develz.org updated to: 0.35-a0-1005-g78a19fd10a
