00:44:01 <11Odds> Yeah I think I’m also leaning towards warning for everything we normally warn for. Unfortunately my laptop seems to not be talking to me so I won’t actually be able to do anything useful for a day or two 03:33:28 Experimental (bcrawl) branch on underhound.eu updated to: 0.23-a0-5261-gd9800d219b 03:40:57 03WizardIke02 07* 0.35-a0-543-ge005243cc8: Remove unused MAP_EXCLUDED_STAIRS flag from map_cell 10(15 minutes ago, 2 files, 0+ 8-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/e005243cc8f4 05:03:09 <12ge0ff> re: limited per-floor use spells and the floor leashing. If you're near upstairs and the previous floor still has some per-floor uses left, it'd be optimal to lure monsters upstairs still. 05:04:24 <12ge0ff> Also, how is the player supposed to know the remaining uses / how much contam casting the spell would give on a visited floor? (for example, when casting such spell during the orb run) 05:05:32 <12ge0ff> And on the subject of spell costs and inventing new ones: It's kinda surprising that there are already two unique spell cost mechanics that are used by exactly one spell each: Irradiate causing contamination and Grave Claw having limited but replenishable charges. 05:05:57 <08wormsofcan> we can put that information in the spell description or when you're about to cast the spell 05:06:28 <08wormsofcan> I don't think there's a "remaining uses" for the spell though, it's just increasing amounts of contam from what I've read 05:09:26 <12ge0ff> A sudden idea for another "per floor" use mechanic, but with a better (?) ui: make the spell harder to cast after each use. There's already the % failure rate for quivered spells, so it'd be easy to see and reason about. 06:04:28 03WizardIke02 07* 0.35-a0-544-g836db0ce31: Fix crypt doors sometimes using non-crypt tiles 10(5 minutes ago, 1 file, 2+ 6-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/836db0ce319f 06:27:53 03WizardIke02 07* 0.35-a0-545-gbd6e047afc: Fix doors closed by sealing sometimes showing the wrong tile 10(4 minutes ago, 1 file, 1+ 3-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/bd6e047afc8d 06:58:45 03WizardIke02 07* 0.35-a0-546-gb2ce4df294: Fix temp terrain reverting causing some doors to have the wrong tile 10(10 minutes ago, 1 file, 1+ 3-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/b2ce4df294e7 12:09:35 <09gammafunk> am I think that something like view.cell_see_cell(0, 0, 0, 0) shold return true? Namely that a cell can always see itself (regardless of opacity). 12:09:40 <09gammafunk> Because that doesn't seem to be the case 14:48:58 <02Monkooky> I believe if you get your LOS to 0 you cnanot see your own cell 14:51:27 <07wizardike> You should be able to see your own square with LOS 0. You would need -1 LOS to not be able to see anything 15:42:57 Unstable branch on underhound.eu updated to: 0.35-a0-546-gb2ce4df294 (34) 16:24:32 <09gammafunk> I obviously had -1 LOS when proofreading this sentence 18:52:43 ge0ff: this might just be a me take but that doesn't feel as engaging. Spell failure rate is just "it doesn't work" while "it works*" (*mega contam) is a lot more interesting as a player. I get to still use fun kill people button, albeit with a few mutations as a result. 21:23:19 <04dracoomega> I did intend to use contam costs for more things, for the record (I even made some of the API with that in mind, when revising contam in 0.34). I just hadn't actually gotten to doing so yet. 21:26:23 <04dracoomega> It might not be unreasonable to use Grave Claw's mechanic on something else, though I know one of my initial hesitancies involved potentially incentivizing going back to weak places to farm up charges periodically (and maybe leaving those places alive specifically to do so), if it was ever a spell you actively cared about later in the game. A few necro spell designs I had swirling around in my head depended on kills to fuel them in 21:26:23 a much more short-term fashion (ie: 'only castable after X recent kills', so that they were sort of 'finishers' or at least things you'd have to have been fighting a bit of a battle before using. 22:36:02 Unstable branch on crawl.develz.org updated to: 0.35-a0-546-gb2ce4df294 (34) 22:59:54 Windows builds of master branch on crawl.develz.org updated to: 0.35-a0-546-gb2ce4df294 23:30:12 Unstable branch on cbro.berotato.org updated to: 0.35-a0-546-gb2ce4df294 (34) 23:56:08 Monster database of master branch on crawl.develz.org updated to: 0.35-a0-546-gb2ce4df294
