00:47:12 <11Odds> Oh... for these tree tiles, I guess we can just have magic mapping reveal colours and then everything will work for revealing variations of trees 01:08:49 03WizardIke02 07* 0.35-a0-286-gf03e214ed5: Add tile-env.h to visual studio project file 10(84 seconds ago, 2 files, 4+ 0-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/f03e214ed596 03:33:36 Experimental (bcrawl) branch on underhound.eu updated to: 0.23-a0-5261-gd9800d219b 06:34:00 initially attractive is a very good bad mutation. too good, maybe... 06:34:59 I had teleportitis put me in a potential softlock if I didn't have digging or tele. pan, vault with the smiting smoke demons 06:35:19 I can't actually use the digging wands unless they point a valid wall so that's something. if i had nemelex I could make walls 06:36:02 so unless the digging wand could be destroyed or misplaced or used up it's not a softlock 06:37:04 0.34 ] 06:37:07 0.34.0* 08:49:31 Hey all, I have a quick question about issues in different versions of the game. 08:49:32 This issue in specific, https://github.com/crawl/crawl/issues/5157, is reported for version 0.34.1. However, on version 0.35-a0 I can't reproduce the issue. Should I download the tagged branch 0.34.1 (https://github.com/crawl/crawl/tree/0.34.1) and try there? Or would the issue be something to ignore since it comes from a previous version than 08:49:32 0.35-a0? Thank you for any responses, in advance. 08:52:54 <08o____0> Since troves don't pick ostracism if you worship Gozag or Xom, if you plan on probably worshipping those gods, I think it is optimal to pregenerate the entire dungeon so the trove entrance generates when you don't have a god :P 08:54:21 <08o____0> !issue 5157 08:54:22 <04Cerebot> https://github.com/crawl/crawl/issues/5157 09:04:50 <08o____0> @FmaddaxUMICH if you want to get really specific you would want to compile the stone_soup-0.34 branch. It looks like it's only 3 commits ahead of the 0.34.1 tag and I don't think any of those would affect that issue 09:08:44 <08o____0> (also 0.34.1 is the latest release version so you could update that the normal way you download crawl) 09:12:52 @Discord| Gotcha! Will download and compile that when I get some time here. 09:12:52 Although, I'm a little confused. Is the comment about troves relevant to this issue or something else? I'm new when it comes to contributing so I want to make sure I'm considering all that needs to be considered (The toga logic seemed to be only tied to monster threat level from what I could tell) 09:18:11 <11Odds> I think that trove comment was unrelated 🙂 (I glanced at that toga issue at some point and have no idea what's going on there, if anything - sounds like you had a good go at reproducing it) 09:26:30 <08o____0> I do notice in that trove issue morgue that they did indeed use a lot of potions in the XL 7-9 category and aren't wearing the robe when they died. I suspect it's user error. It might be worth checkign the ttyrec I guess 09:27:46 <08o____0> !lg almostdecent gree gozag xl=12 volcano -ttyrec 09:27:48 <04Cerebot> 1. They never put it back on and that's why it never got enchanted :P I left a comment with terminal ascii "screenshots" on the issue 10:18:39 <11Odds> Someone should go on an issue closing spree for old and unreproducible things 🙂 11:36:35 03Amelia02 07https://github.com/crawl/crawl/pull/5205 * 0.35-a0-287-ge6f0b0cec5: Added bronze_bull.png 10(63 seconds ago, 1 file, 0+ 0-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/e6f0b0cec5eb 12:29:16 <11Odds> Heh, summon forest in disco pan makes disco trees 12:32:37 Hm.... we need some sort of variant of disco pan that has like a heavenly theme 12:32:49 it'd be kinda like a disco Elysium 12:33:45 <11Odds> (This is somewhat new, though IDK what changed) 12:34:15 <11Odds> Temporary terrain is the worst 12:35:47 <11Odds> I'm a fan of the disco trees though 12:38:24 03Amelia02 07https://github.com/crawl/crawl/pull/5205 * 0.35-a0-288-g9dc93e696c: Create Peri.png 10(51 seconds ago, 1 file, 0+ 0-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/9dc93e696c66 12:41:20 <04dracoomega> I think the actual part that's troublesome here is actually more our tile handling than temporary terrain itself. (A while ago, I tried implementing a cosmetic-only temporary terrain transformation and it was a giant pain in the ass. It probably mostly worked, though an ultimately-unrelated bug cropped up at the time which made me think I'd badly broken things and I reverted it. Eventually discovered it was unrelated, but never 12:41:21 ended up directly using that code afterward. We did have something slated to use it again in future, if I can find it.) 12:41:40 <04dracoomega> Back while working on Makhleb marks the first time 12:42:38 <11Odds> Yeah, I agree. It's pretty awkward that tiles aren't a function of map_knowledge, for example 12:42:46 <04dracoomega> (Was supposed to make chunks of the map temporarily look like a given hell) 12:47:11 <11Odds> I think I'll give up on this tree nonsense. I'm fairly sure that revealing colours as in https://github.com/CrawlOdds/crawl/tree/map-colours is safe and fixes the issue that prompted me to start looking at trees. 12:48:04 <04dracoomega> Since the rest, while technically info leaks or info-lost-on-reload of some sort of another are ultimately very low impact? 12:48:25 <11Odds> Yeah it's all extremely unimportant and a headache to fix 12:49:29 <11Odds> The only info leak I'm aware of is https://github.com/crawl/crawl/issues/5168, where in certain places you can work out where you successfully summoned trees without looking. Truly gamebreaking stuff. 12:50:21 <04dracoomega> Yeah, some things just aren't worth the headache 12:50:41 <04dracoomega> (Like, a better general system for all of this might be nice, but barring that I don't feel the info leak is very consequential) 12:51:11 <04dracoomega> Like, there's that one where you can tell whether your Imprison out of LoS wore off yet or not, but that's also very 'whatever' to me 12:51:30 <11Odds> Yeah I imagine that's the same thing 12:51:45 <04dracoomega> (It wouldn't even be conceptually inappropriate if you explicitly knew when your own invocation wore off, tbh) 12:56:04 <09hellmonk> Squeezing an extra 0.0001% winrate out of tree placement knowledge 13:01:27 did I do this correctly? https://github.com/crawl/crawl/pull/5205 I haven't used Github in quite a while. 13:01:45 i tried to do 3 tiles from the requests 13:04:25 oh it's listed above, I didn't notice that 15:41:46 Unstable branch on underhound.eu updated to: 0.35-a0-286-gf03e214ed5 (34) 15:43:45 <04dracoomega> So much math... 15:49:09 <04dracoomega> This is a somewhat complex combination of a lot of numbers and a lot of potential subtle-yet-important effects, and also 'enough of this is fuzzy that exact correspondence is not necessarily of the utmost importance' 15:49:31 <04dracoomega> But I am learning a bunch of things from staring at these piety tables that I didn't really realized before, either. 15:53:21 <04dracoomega> (Such as piety decay actually being a much bigger deal for some gods than I would have expected and also that explore piety gods for the most part earn a lot less piety than kill gods, especially past earlygame) 15:54:59 <04dracoomega> For instance, Step From Time and Primordial Nightfall cost very similar piety (Nightfall is a tiny bit more expensive, in fact), but Dith gains less than half as much piety as Chei does (and has higher decay), so it's actually much more expensive in practice. 15:55:41 <04dracoomega> Apparently moderately slow Dith characters lose as much as 75% of their piety gain at 6* from piety decay 15:58:58 <02Darby> I'm a fan of "the average Chei 3-runer loses roughly 15 Slouches or 10 Step From Times to piety decay" 15:59:59 <04dracoomega> I mean, I don't think Dith is exactly too weak at the moment, but it's interesting seeing some of these numbers directly in a way we haven't previously been able to 16:00:17 <04dracoomega> (Chei characters need Step From Time a lot more than Dith ones need Nightfall in general, after all) 16:02:08 <04dracoomega> But it's interesting just how much worse explore piety is in a lot of lategame areas, presumably as a consequence of 'levels stay about the same size, but monster density goes waaaay up'. I had, in past, felt like explore piety gods might be unnecessarily bad in Zigs, for instance. (I did try to do a Dith zig once and was surprised at how little piety I gained. Back when I thought that rate of explore piety gain was still 16:02:08 normalized by floor, rather than strictly equivalent per tile) 16:18:58 <09hellmonk> It's giving make all the top end abilities way more expensive 16:29:18 it's giving buff chei and usk the two gods I play the most 16:52:01 <08o____0> Explore piety being slow being lower past early game is very noticeable 16:52:17 <02Monkooky> If nothing else the entire system is way more opaque than I think is justifiable 20:38:03 New branch created: pull/5207 (1 commit) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/pull/5207 20:38:04 03yrdzrfxndfvh02 {GitHub} 07https://github.com/crawl/crawl/pull/5207 * 0.35-a0-287-g4d35c9b202: Change ratskin cloak's stat bonuses 10(2 minutes ago, 1 file, 1+ 3-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/4d35c9b20219 21:15:59 <09hellmonk> Give it -3 charisma 22:04:42 New branch created: pull/5208 (1 commit) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/pull/5208 22:04:43 03WizardIke02 07https://github.com/crawl/crawl/pull/5208 * 0.35-a0-287-g773a23eb74: Fix info leaks from feature tile overrides (CrawlOdds) 10(2 hours ago, 27 files, 353+ 79-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/773a23eb7417 22:05:49 03CrawlOdds02 {WizardIke} 07* 0.35-a0-287-ga7f40f37fe: Let tracers enchantment chain 10(34 hours ago, 1 file, 5+ 1-) 13https://github.com/crawl/crawl/commit/a7f40f37fe9d 22:36:11 Unstable branch on crawl.develz.org updated to: 0.35-a0-287-ga7f40f37fe (34) 23:00:07 Windows builds of master branch on crawl.develz.org updated to: 0.35-a0-287-ga7f40f37fe 23:13:23 Unstable branch on cbro.berotato.org updated to: 0.35-a0-287-ga7f40f37fe (34) 23:35:19 <04dracoomega> @wizardike Taking a little look over that tile override PR, while I may be wrong, does tile_env.forgotten_flavour exist entirely so that if you wipe out a map with wizmode ctrl+X, it can be unforgotten with full tile override details preserved? In which case, my instinct is that this isn't actually important enough to have code to manage this state (and even serialize it). Wizmode can't actually leak anything and this seems like 23:35:19 an extremely minor inconsistency to have that amount of handling for. Also, update_grid_colour_knowledge() seems to always be called alongside update_terrain_knowledge(). Is there any reason they're not both done in the same function? 23:56:22 Monster database of master branch on crawl.develz.org updated to: 0.35-a0-287-ga7f40f37fe
