While Infernal Marks are inherently a rather special case in the first place (as a capstone 14:11:33 mutation gift and all), I'm extremely reluctant to break away from the extremely established tradition and standard of a given god's invocation tiles being visibly of an aligned group with a shared palette. 8/9 current infernal mark icons differ only by colour on a background of a chest that all shares the same palette (of the Makhleb altar's rock colours) outlined by the usual Makhleb icon colours. (The ninth still shares the same palette.) I'm not 14:11:33 sure how to actually reconcile that with the decision to forego depicting any visual flesh beyond having some outline or some consistent framing lines / flaming glow / etcera arrangement with some minor shrinkage to accompany such, aside from using these only as the mutation icons rather than the invocation icons. Also, when I did the current tiles, I made the marks colours each correspond to a given demon; while this isn't that important to keep at a 14:11:34 redone higher resolution as they were relatively loose connections, the provided tiles are using a very wide number of colours anyway. In particular, the swarming Legion mark moving from summoning ynoxinul cyan to blasting green death green feels rather off to me, as does the transforming Fanatic mark moving from mutating cacodemon yellow to primarily a nondemonic blue not even used by the dark-gray-and-yellow transformation tiles themselves. 14:54:38 <05sastreii> I’m a big fan of the “strict god palette” too, but i’ve used other colors just to make sure that all marks feel different and readable. Sure, i can use just the ol makh palette for everyone of them if you think it’s better, but keep in mind that for the destruction abilities i’ll have to use the hells palette anyways; Mark of the Fanatic has a specific palette because i was going to remake all the slaughter form tiles. 14:54:38 Legion mark i have to confess i wasn’t sure how to do it, so i’ve picked a nice color ramp and some death metal vibes (you got me there lol) 16:06:10 <06regret-⸸nde※> It's not that the marks themselves all have to be all the one palette (as the current marks do already differ with colour), but that they could have backgrounds or frames or highlights or any number of options that can fit the god palettes in. 16:11:08 <06regret-⸸nde※> (I can't help but think there are dozens, if not hundreds of tiles, on the official dev art requests page that could do with replacements before making new Slaughter Form tiles....) 16:14:20 <04dracoomega> (I have wondered myself if I should have been requesting "Things I will almost certainly want for Forgecraft" in advance of them landing, but mostly I'd hesitated on this before knowing for absolute certain that a given spell would be hitting trunk in that form before saying such. Since things do get shuffled around when iterating upon implementing them and I wanted to avoid saying "I need X" and then not immediately using X.) 23:46:05 Monster database of master branch on crawl.develz.org updated to: 0.33-a0-265-g90227b9278 23:52:33 <05sastreii> Well, since forgecraft will add a lot of stuff, you can make a list and when the day of release will come, i’ll be more prepared with some tiles, color schemes or ideas
